Our Manoa Lettuce and Green Mustard Cabbage are coming in! We'll be harvesting our first batch in January!
We had a great field trip up North Shore to Pioneer Farm! The students got to participate in numerous activities regarding farming, agriculture, science, and gardening! This was a great opportunity for students to access an outside of school resource, which is related to opportunities at our school with the Hope Community Garden.
Our school was fortunate enough to land some performers from the Honolulu Symphony! They played some holiday classics and gave explanations to instruments, writing and reading music, and the reason for sounds and strings supporting the story or song!
Tyler and Usitai were selected for the School Volleyball Team! They wen't 4-1 in the Central Elementary School Tournament! Way to go Eagles!
As we explore Energy Sources in our Science Unit this quarter, we developed Pinwheels to harness wind energy! Students developed a hypothesis to see whether their pinwheel turbine could hold a certain amount of paper clips! Students then analyzed data and identified what factors contributed to the success or failure of their turbine! Utilizing the Scientific Method and our Engineering Design Process, student's did a great job with this experiment!
Our Bookit class goal was to read aloud for 20 minutes, 15/30 days for the month of November! Way to go Erin, Jayln, Kylah, Tyler, and Mason! (gone the origninal day we took a picture) Enjoy the free Personal Pizza's! Our December goal is the same 15/30, but we added 5 drawings or written components to symbolize what students read!
