Mr. Bevaqua's sub wasn't here for PE, but that didn't stop us from physical activity! We had students shoot basketball field goals from the location, we compared boys and girls field goal percentage. We calculated the fractions, and thus percentages for boys and girls! We posted the results outside the class! The girls shot 52%!! With the boys coming in at 40%! It got a little competitive to say the least!
Hello families of A-1! Just a few updates.
> Homework tonight, students are borrowing my copies of "My Brother Sam is Dead" (our current novel study). They need to finish Chapter 4 tonight, and complete the chapter activity in their google drive account. They also either have been assigned to do a math worksheet, or to finish their 2nd paragraph draft to their persuasive writing essay. Students do not need to do both math and 2nd paragraph, just one! > Science Fair, for more week/longer based projects, students should continue observations and recordings on their data table. For others who have completed it, make sure all data and detailed observations are recorded. If you can remind your student to update their current progress on the Science Fair Tracker Link below. We will be analyzing, displaying (graphs) and writing our conclusions in class, also refining and editing sections to look presentable. Then once ready, students will print and assemble boards at home. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18mpnMLAfTQ4wdP5HJz6Ok1o7Ecrsc7scl8Wismuj7T0/edit?usp=sharing - If you've lost your copy of the Science Fair Timeline, I've posted on on the class blog! As well as the linked tracker above! > Garden updates, still waiting on Mrs. Cramer's husband to come in and re-till the garden. I will be sending home observable plots of plants later this week, this has nothing to do with science fair, but just an at home science fair project. I feel bad the garden has been put on hold, so this will be a fun "gardening" activity to do at home in the meanwhile! I love the kids energy and attitude for the garden! :) > Valentines day, I've already gotten requests if it's okay to send in cards/candy/treats for Valentines Day. Totally fine! But with it being on the weekend. I ask that you send it in the Friday (12th) before. > Technology, if you ever have a a night with online Homework, where theres not an available computer for your child to use, can you please indicate that in the students planner where you sign off for homework! I've had it pop up a few times with students, and I just want to make sure that I'm not marking down Homework and Content participation points if they had no control over the computer not being available. The Military sent some officers to share with students about nutrition, health, and exercise! Students even got a free sports toy to help them get more active!
